State of The Fatherless Child.

State of the Fatherless Child is our research and advocacy initiative dedicated to examining fatherlessness and its relationship to child development, educational achievement, mental health, family stability, and social and economic outcomes. Through research and informed discussion, we seek to deepen public understanding of the challenges facing fatherless youth, identify protective factors, and explore evidence-based approaches that support positive youth development.

Our research is organized into three categories:

Research Summaries — Accessible summaries of peer-reviewed studies, academic publications, and credible reports examining fatherlessness, father involvement, and youth development. We highlight key findings, research limitations, and implications for families and communities.

Research Perspectives — Thoughtful analysis and commentary exploring research findings, emerging questions, and their implications for educators, policymakers, nonprofit leaders, families, and communities.

Original CFFYD Research — Research conducted or commissioned by the Center for Fatherless Youth Development to investigate challenges, identify community needs, evaluate youth development approaches, and contribute new insights that inform programs, partnerships, and public policy.
